Abstract

Tumors were very rarely observed in European bison from Białowieża Primeval Forest, and pulmonary neoplasm was not described yet. Post mortem examination of 75 animals of both sexes, from 3 months to 27 years old from the free-living bison at Bałowiez˙a Primeval Forest was carried out. The suspected samples of the lungs were collected for histopathological examination. The routine histopathological examination (H-E) revealed in 4 cases neoplastic lesions.  PAS, Grimelius – histochemical and immunohistochemical method – cytoceratin, vimentin and chromograninA antibodies were used to recognize a type of neoplasm. In one case (female two years old), it was the Bronchogenic large-cell carcinoma. In three cases (two females 4 and 8 years old; male 3 years old) observed was the Bronchioloalveolar adenoma.
